Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When I try to connect to the MicroCounts unit, it just returns to the main menu before it even connects to the unit. How can I fix this?
A: That will happen if you are not in communication with the MicroCounts unit. Make sure the cabling is plugged into the back of the computer and the MicroCounts unit. If the cabling is fine, run the configuration utility and change the COM port.

Be sure you are turning the unit off and on when it prompts you to, and make sure the unit's light does blink when power is turned on to it.

If you are using 2 or more serial devices then you may want to check with your computer technician to see if you have COM1 or COM2 available to use. If not, something must be moved to a different comport.

Q: I get a "Drive/Path does not EXIST!" error when I try to enter in a data directory, but the path I am entering does exist, what's wrong?
A: You are probably trying to specify a network drive, or a drive above G. The current software does not support any drives above G. If you need to use it on a network, ask you network administrator if they can MAP the drive you would like to use, to G or lower.
Q: It doesn't seem to print on a network printer, why?
A: Talk to your network administrator about this. This software will send any print jobs out to LPT1, the standard printer port. Your network admin may need to set up a capture on LPT1 if they have not yet done so.
Q: The program crashes out on me with a "Runtime Error" just after the unit has made connection, what is going on?
A: This is usually because your 'Data default path' does not exist. Select the Parameters menu option and look at what your 'Data default path' is set to. Now check to make sure that directory exists.
